John Lindsay was a veteran of the War of 1812, and was at the Battle of New Orleans with General Jackson's Army. He came to Titus County in the early 1850's (just after brother-in-law David Snodgrass) and settled in the southeastern part of the county in what is now the Chapel Hill or Mt. Pleasant community, where the David Snodgrass family lived.
